It’s getting to that time of year again when developers, publishers and manufacturers begin to RSVP for the hottest show in town. And to kick things off, CD Projekt RED have confirmed their presence at E3 2019 with Cyberpunk 2077 in tow.
This year’s show kicks off on June 11th and runs until June 14th. Now, the studio didn’t elaborate on which day or show they’d be piggybacking on, but it’s safe to say they’ll be showing it off as much as possible. That’s because it could be unofficially crowned as last year’s major talking point of the week, catching the eye of gamers everywhere, and they’ll want to keep the momentum going. But then again, you could hardly miss it?
Media personnel are already suggesting that the event could be used to stage a hands-on preview for those in such a fortunate position. That would allow the studio to maintain a strong publicity drive in the interim period between trailer and launch, whilst also giving fans further talking points of their own.
Selfishly, we’d also like to think there will be mention of a public beta, but that could be pushing it a little.
As of yet, the game is still slated to release on the PlayStation 4, even though murmurs of a next generation console are starting to do the rounds. Whether we’ll still be writing a 4 after PS and not 5 come June 14th is yet to be seen but nothing is being ruled out. After all, it’s always ‘this generation’ until it’s not and that can change overnight. Then again, with Sony skipping the event altogether, an announcement of a new console looks highly doubtful.
