Cyberpunk 2077 is nearly with us. But your admission into Night City may be delayed somewhat by the now almost obligatory Day One patch. That’s because it is rumoured to not only be in the double digits – size wise – but could actually exceed 40GB. And that is quite the update to wait to download.
Let’s hope the discs ship with a colouring pack…
The news comes via DreamcastGuy – a YouTube personality, in case you didn’t know – who posted a screenshot of the demand for the patch and an estimate file size of 43.5GB. It followed earlier suggestions that a 56GB patch was required, so at least this is a little better than that. But the two figures are still large given the time they’ve had for development. Especially when it’s releasing on two discs!
This is the latest headline that Cyberpunk 2077 has made for itself in recent weeks. First we had the delay. Then we had the increased working hours for staff in a desperate attempt to meet its launch. And then that was followed by the mention of cut content. But with a Day One patch reaching these sort of sizes, that cut content may have been more than we were expecting and now it seems like they’re trying to patch it back in.
Either that or it’s buggier than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and they need to replace most of it – can you imagine that? Oh, the disappointment there’d be!
