Save transfers are the one thing we’re all judging cross generation games by. And Cyberpunk 2077 is no exception. But as it has now been confirmed that CD Projekt RED’s next big game will support the feature, that’s one less thing to worry about. As long as you’re playing on the same PlayStation account, that is.
This news means you can start the adventure on the PlayStation 4 and then carry on where you left off on the PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility. As a result, you will be able to enjoy all the benefits the next generation has to offer, as and when you secure yourself a console, without having to wait for the fun to start in the meantime.
Now, if you do happen to take the team up on this offer, there will be three different ways of transferring your progress across. And according to the published guidelines, these are:
- Connect to your PlayStation Plus account and upload your saves or
- Transfer your data via LAN cable or wireless connection (WiFi) or
- Use a compatible storage device to copy and transfer your saves to the same PSN account on PlayStation 5.
Which all sounds rather standard and straight forward – two things we hope Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be. But at least this way we can find out at launch rather than waiting months down the line for the native PS5 release.
In the meantime, all that’s left for us to do is hope it doesn’t let us down. I’m not too confident, if I’m honest, given its recent setbacks but I will hold judgement until we’ve experienced it first hand.
