Our disappointment with the Vita’s lack of support has been well-documented. Although we do not always want our new PS4 games to be past Vita releases, we make exceptions for those experiences that probably did not receive enough attention.
One of these games is Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls (the ultra despair may be from the long title), and it is set between the first and second games in the series with very different mechanics from either of those. It is an action game, instead of a visual novel, and it will star Komaru Naegi and Toko Fukawa as they try to stop the Warriors of Hope. Why would a sweet sounding organization like that need to be stopped? They are pulling a technological Children of the Corn and killing all the adults with Monokuma robots. Remember that the next time they call you for a donation.
Your attacks are not standard either. The game allows you to use a Hacking Gun with different bullets for different situations. For a more hands on approach, Komaru will gradually fill a gauge to transform into Genocide Jack, taking zero damage and dishing out punishment.
This year should be good for Danganronpa fans. The first two games will be released March 14th, and Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls will hit the PS4 on June 27th.
Do you think we are seeing too many older titles being released again, or are you happy to play some of these more niche games for the first time?
