If you haven’t played any of the Danganronpa games, run and play them now. If you don’t, you won’t understand why people are celebrating the 10th anniversary of such an interesting franchise, and it looks like there’s more to come.
According to Gematsu, Spike Chunsoft will celebrate a decade of Danganronpa with a monthly newscast starting in May. These will reveal more information about merchandise, collaborations, and games among other things. Does this mean a new game is imminent? I hope so, but it could also be interesting bits about the development of their past games. A little history would be fun, but a new game would be awesome.
Spike Chunsoft will give fans a better idea of what it’s planning at the Famitsu and Dengeki Game Awards 2019 on April 8th. There is already a scheduled YouTube stream ready for everyone to watch, and it starts at 18:30 JST. This will be the fastest way to see the reveal, but I’m guessing only people with a decent grasp of Japanese will understand what they are seeing.
Even if it’s just advertising Monokuma t-shirts for sale later this year, I’m glad to see Spike Chunsoft acknowledging the enduring appeal of the Danganronpa franchise after 10 years. I won’t give up hope for a new game, but I look forward to checking out the monthly info.
