Dante DLC Coming to Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster in Japan

Atlus Japan announced a new “Maniax Pack” DLC for the Japanese version of the Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster. According to Gemastsu, for ¥980 (which is currently over $9 USD), players can add Devil May Cry’s stylish protagonist. He will replace every instance of Raidou Kuzunoha in the game, and you can activate the mode by choosing “Maniax” from New Game on the main menu.

This is not exactly a new crossover for Dante. He was included in the Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax version of the game which released a year after the original version. (And you thought Atlus re-releasing versions of their games with new content was a new thing!) This is also the same version that was released outside Japan. The addition updated the looped movie on the title screen, the logo, and gave a pierce effect to the “Son’s Oath” skill that Dante has.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Japanese gamers are asked to pay for something that the West receives for free, so I’m hoping this is included in the version we receive in Spring 2021. Check out the trailer for a look at a battle between Dante and your party and several repetitions of “Showtime!”.
