Before you get too excited, no, you’re not going to be picking up Red Dead Redemption 2 for mere pennies. You can, however, save a few valuable dollars with Amazon’s weird obsession with lowering pre-order prices and hiding them from customers.
The online retailer has updated its page for Red Dead Redemption 2 and Kojima’s Death Stranding, and in doing so it has given it a new pre-order price of $53.99 – that’s some $6 cheaper than elsewhere. If you do opt to pre-order from Amazon, you won’t see the price on the product’s page. For whatever complicated legal reason, Amazon will only show you the price once the item is in your digital trolley. It doesn’t mean you have to buy the game, but you do have to at least add it to your basket to see the price. Weird, no?
Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced earlier this year after fans had spent an eternity begging Rockstar Games to make another. There’s still no hint of a remaster for the original Red Dead Redemption though, something we are mega disappointed in.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is slated to release around this time next year, so Autumn/Winter 2017. We’ll believe it when we see it; delays are about as common as sheep in Wales. And honestly, we just don’t believe any release date for Kojima’s games until we’ve licked the disc.
We sometimes link to online retail stores. If you buy something from our links, we may make a small commission which goes towards keeping the lights on and coffee in the pot.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
