Fancy some free first-person shooting fun this weekend? Then look no further than Disintegration, a first-person shooter for PS4 that is running a free open beta this weekend.
Disintegration features a full single-player campaign as well as a multiplayer suite. This weekend’s open beta will focus on the multiplayer portion of the game as the developers test and observe to ensure a smooth launch when it releases later this year.
But what is Disintegration? I’ll be honest with you and say that reading the PR email this morning is the first I’ve heard of it, so you’ll be excused, too, if you’re a little out of the loop.
The basic premise is that in the future, humanity is in crisis. Overpopulation, climate change and other nasties have made life hard. For some, there was an out: Integration. Some humans had their brains removed from their bodies and placed into robotic avatars, and they eventually rebel against humanity. It’s an interesting concept and I’m interested to see what the developers do with the story, but I reckon the free open beta will be a good first look all the same.
You can download the Disintegration open beta from the PlayStation Store at no cost. If you already took part in the closed beta, you can access this weekend’s open beta through the same app you used for the closed beta.
