The Outer Worlds proved a big hit with gamers when it launched last month, so you’ll all be glad to read that there is an expansion planned. In fact, Obsidian plan on expanding the story with the update and to stay away from cosmetic additions alone.
Although, where the DLC will go with the story is yet to be disclosed.
That’s because the team have said very little else. Instead, they took the opportunity to thank fans for their recent votes in The Game Awards, where they were nominated for a string of gongs. But we do know, at least, that it’ll launch in…2020. Yeah, we really don’t know much yet.
Still, it’s good to know that Halcyon isn’t done with us. Or that Obsidian are done with Halcyon, considering the success it has become. Maybe it will even result in The Outer Worlds 2 becoming a thing. Here’s hoping.
But let’s get back to the topic at hand.
In a post on their official forum, they said that their recent recognition was due to the combined effort and hard work of all those involved in making the project a reality. The nominations alone meant a lot to them, and they’re grateful for everyone’s enthusiasm towards the game. But all they had to say over its future was:
“However, the journey isn’t over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year! Details will be made available at a later date.”
Which means we’re none the wiser, except for finding out a DLC is planned. But that’s better than nothing, right?
