Literally the Pokémon game we’ve always wanted
DokeV has surprised, well everyone, by rocking up at Gamescom and being one of the most impressive and visually stunning games shown over the week.
DokeV was originally conceived as an MMO but is now a “creature-collecting, open-world action-adventure” the new trailer which you can check out below, boasts a vibrant and unique world that is basically channelling Big Hero 6 meets Pokémon, and I’m so here for it.
Players will traverse the open-world collecting Dokebi, creatures based on Korean mythology which are formed from people’s dreams. These creatures are friends first and foremost and help encourage the dreams from which they gain their strength. All of the battles will take place in real-time, you will also be able to team up with your Dokebi in battle and in boss fights.
There are also many creative methods of transport, you can zoom around on skateboards or bicycles, you can even channel your inner Mary Poppins, or Michael Rooker, by getting around with your floating umbrella. DokeV encourages players to explore and there is no linear playstyle, there’s a unique open world that’s all yours to explore.
Geoff Keighley, host and producer of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live said, “We were proud to once again work together with Pearl Abyss and debut a new look at DokeV as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live. We’re always trying to curate a diverse group of games in my shows, and DokeV’s colourful and lively world was a great fit for Opening Night Live.”
Sangyoung Kim, Lead Producer at Pearl Abyss said, “Although the DokeV project is still under development, we are very proud of what we have been able to show you today and feel confident to meet and exceed your expectations. We at Pearl Abyss are excited to see your reactions and hope that you look forward to DokeV”.
Pearl Abyss is developing DokeV for PC and console and will announce its release window later.
