Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires has today been announced by Koei Tecmo, and it will, of course, be a cross-generational release. The epic brawler with its 1 vs 1000s gameplay will release in early 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The announcement comes by way of this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which this year was held online due to obvious reasons.
Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will be a little different than the original Dynasty Warriors 9, which released way back in 2018 – you can read our review if you haven’t already.
For one, the game will have a bigger focus on individual battles rather than the open world. Political conflict takes centre stage as you try to defend your own bases, and attack enemy strongholds, with battlefields centred on these sites. You’ll also have to manage relationships with other faction leaders, which in turn affects the way the game plays out and who you do battle against.
Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will release in early 2021, though no exact release date has yet been given. Naturally, we’ll keep you up to date as and when more information becomes available. For now, all we have is a teaser trailer up above.
