E3 2020 is Cancelled, But Gamescom 2020 is Still Scheduled to Go Ahead; Tickets On Sale Now

The corpse of E3 2020 has barely had a chance to lose its heat and yet Gamescom’s press team is already slipping into my emails. Shameless, maybe, but you’ve got to hand it to them for their impeccable timing.

Gamescom is due to take place between August 25th – August 29th in Koln, Germany, and the Gamescom organisers have sent out a presser today to let us all know that tickets are now available for purchase, though only while stocks last.

There will be early-bird offers in all ticket categories, so if you’re expecting to visit Koln and attend Gamescom, you can save a few pennies by getting your tickets early. Note that there is a limit of five tickets per person, so no hogging them all to resell, please. You can get your tickets here.

Also, new for this year is the ‘After School’ Ticket which offers discounted admission. Despite being called the ‘After School Ticket’ it’s not just for kids, it’s for people of all ages. It’s a ticket that will allow access to the venue from 4PM to 8PM, and the ticket can save you over 60% compared to a regular day ticket. This isn’t perhaps all that useful for anyone travelling to attend, but for locals, ja, warum nicht?

Do bear in mind, however, that Gamescom 2020 could still be cancelled. Germany is currently fighting the Covid-19 (coronavirus) spread, but every day there are new cases. Events with more than 1000 attendees are currently cancelled, with football games taking place behind closed doors, and other events being cancelled or postponed.
