E3 2021: Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is Bringing Japanese Horror Adventure to Consoles Later This Year

Koei Tecmo America has announced that the Japanese horror adventure Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water will arrive on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC later in 2021.

Originally it was a Wii U exclusive title that launched back in 2014. However, this remastered version of the game will be available on consoles to experience this frightening adventure for the first time. The remastered version will have new visuals, costumes, and a brand new photo mode so you can capture the perfect spooky moment.

The game itself is the fifth instalment of the Fatal Frame series, a well-known and critically acclaimed survival horror game franchise. The story takes place on Hikam Mountain, where mysterious deaths and spiritual activity are all tied to the water of the mountain. There are three interconnecting stories that direct players to discover the truth behind several tragic deaths linked to the peak.

You play as one of three characters as you make your way through the ominous mountain. Armed with the camera obscura, an antique camera with the power to see ghosts, it can aid you to defend yourself against these unholy foes as they pursue you.

There are many disturbing locations to discover, such as a shrine filled with adult-sized dolls and a lake full of dead priestesses. All these locations you visit are linked to the stream that flows through the haunted mountain.
