E3 2021: Free-To-Play Multiplayer Shooter Splitgate is Heading to Consoles Next Month

1047 Games have announced that Splitgate will be heading to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One on July 27 as a free-to-play title.

If you haven’t heard of Splitgate before, it’s a fast-paced sci-fi multiplayer shooter where players can exploit portal mechanics to manoeuvre themselves across the map to escape some dangerous situations or tactically sneak up on your opponents and shoot them down. Overall, the gameplay consists of outwitting your enemies and ensuring you have the upper hand in every situation.

Splitgate was initially released on PC in 2019; since its launch, a bunch of in-game content has been introduced. The game now features over twenty maps, including maps such as a nightclub, an active volcano, and a futuristic battle stadium. There are also over ten game modes on offer, which will all be present when the game launches onto consoles next month.

In addition, Splitgate launch onto consoles will be accompanied by cross-play functionality, meaning no matter what platform you’re playing on, whether it’s PC, PlayStation or Xbox, you can all play together, which is pretty neat.
