Who wants more Titanfall? According to various sources, EA is set to drop a new Titanfall game next week. Apparently it’s a free-to-play battle royale game set within the Titanfall universe.
The rumours around this new entry in the Titanfall series have been flying around since earlier this week, but before jumping the gun I decided to have a proper good look (and wait for others to do the hard work for me) before writing this story up.
Before it was just a rumour, but I think it’s more or less confirmed at this point that EA and Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment will be announcing and releasing Apex Legends on Monday, February 4th, 2019. Multiple respected sources have spoken out about the game, including Kotaku’s Mr Know It All, Jason Schreier. At this point, it’s just a matter of waiting for the official announcement.
Apparently EA has been showing the game off to livestreamers and influencers (not us…) and those very same folk have let it slip that the game exists. Apparently it’s going to be a hero-based, free-to-play, battle royale, with support for up to 60 players in teams of three. The game will apparently be supported by microtransaction and loot boxes, because we gamers just love that stuff, don’t we?
EA had previously confirmed that Respawn Entertainment would be releasing multiple games in 2019. We knew that the Star Wars game was always on the cards, but who could have imagined Apex Legends after the poor sales of the underrated Titanfall 2?
All we’ve got to do now is wait for Monday to roll around and see if EA and Respawn make the announcement.
