The space sandbox epic is coming to PlayStation 4 systems according to Frontier Developments today. The developer announced that the Xbox One and PC title, Elite Dangerous, will hop on over to the PlayStation system sometime in Q2 2017. It will come with every expansion to date and added additions just for the PS4 including: touchpad navigation, extra hotkeys, and motion-based controls thanks to the Dualshock 4 controller.
Elite Dangerous starts you off as a pilot with a small starship and a handful of credits. It is up to you to forge your own path in the Milky Way galaxy and acquire skill, knowledge, wealth, and power. You can customize your ships, build fleets, and live full lives out on the galactic frontier. Which incorporates real science to produce accurate graphics and simulations. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take light years to reach another star system. There will also be multiplayer where you’ll come across unpredictable situations with other players. Will you cooperate or compete with other space wayfarers?
‘We’re thrilled to bring Elite Dangerous to PlayStation 4,’ said Frontier CEO and Elite co-creator David Braben. ‘Elite Dangerous is unlike any other space game, with a rich multiplayer or single-player space, a true-to-life galaxy including our own entire night sky, real physics, unique ship handling characteristics and a player-driven narrative that’s really heating up. The galaxy has been stable for centuries, but all that is about to change. PlayStation 4 players will be joining our galaxy at a very exciting time.’
