In the newest trailer for Torment: Tides of Numenera, the developer walks you through an interactive quest from the game. After setting up the story, the video will pause for 10 seconds to allow you to pick a choice for what to do next. It will continue to pause until the quest is finished, or you hit a dead end. Since it is easy to rewind the video, you can see the consequences of your choices and try different options, but those choices could reward or punish you later in the game.
Part of our love of choice in RPGs comes from a childhood spent reading Choose Your Own Adventure books and also dying in caves from our choices. Stupid death caves.
We like to see a more unconventional trailer, and it makes us excited to see the rest of the game when it launches on February 28th.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
