The Last of Us Part 2 has stood its ground for a few weeks. But F1 2020 is now the new game at the top of the sales charts (obviously not powered by a Ferrari engine, then). That’s a feat Marvel’s Iron Man VR failed to achieve last week, although it did come close. So, does that mean we can add the racing simulator to the list of those who’ve defeated the metallic hero? I think so.
There’s no denying that Codemasters’ game has a big following. A repeat audience, so to speak, in a similar manner to FIFA or 2K games. But I really didn’t expect Naughty Dog’s sequel to be toppled this week, especially by a niche release like F1 2020. The way it was selling, I thought it’d make the month at least!
However, that’s exactly what has happened here. And it not only fell one place but two down to third.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s Iron Man VR tumbled to ninth, Call of Duty Modern Warfare ended up in seventh and Grand Theft Auto V (if you’ve heard of it…) finished the week in sixth. Surprisingly, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy made a reappearance in tenth – probably as a result of the fourth game’s announcement. But the rest was dominated by Nintendo, as we have seen so many times before.
The full list is as follows:
- F1 2020
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- The Last of Us: Part II
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Luigi’s Mansion 3
- Marvel’s Iron Man VR
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
