Despite recent rumours, there are no plans to make Fallout 76 a free-to-play title. And that comes straight from the horse’s mouth.
Bethesda were quick to take to their official Twitter account and dispel the myth when a user expressed their concern. And it’s no surprise when you consider just how strong a reaction it was generating from current players. That’s because the studio was being inundated with threats that such a move would result in endless refund demands from those who’ve already parted with their cash. Not what anyone wants to hear from their fan base…
As is often the case, it was a short but sweet statement, which managed to address the situation in a total of seven words. And a full stop. You can see the masterpiece below. But the Tweet itself also managed to stir a cocktail of replies.
Numerous users of the social media site, and video game news sites in general, took to the virtual realm to express their frustrations with the game. Full stop. Many shared the opinion that even if it were free, they’d still have little desire to play it, whilst current owners of the game said that would have been the final nail in the coffin. The question is, will this assurance be enough to bury the worry deep in the wasteland?
