Codemasters are finally reviving their Grid series with a new release. The originally titled ‘Grid’ will speed on to our screens in the coming months, with a September 13th launch, and looks full of all the features that we raved about all those years ago.
The video above suggests that the much loved rewind ability will be making a comeback. But there is so much more teased in the trailer. For starters, there are cars of all forms – GT, muscle, stock and tourers, to name but a few. And four continents of action on circuit, street and point to point tracks. Not to mention the inclusion of Fernando Alonso with his famous Renault R26 F1 car.
Alonso’s FA racing team will also be making an appearance during a series of challenges.
“Having competed across F1 ® , Endurance and Stock Racing, GRID is the perfect game for me and I’m delighted the studio has added both myself and my racing team into the game,” said Alonso.
“GRID offers so much variety and I welcome the challenge when players get to line-up against me.”
The game promises to bridge the gap between arcade and simulation by offering a responsive handling system that will suit all levels of driver. In addition, sustained damage will be plausible and the artificial intelligence driving your opposition is deemed to be… intelligent.
That, though, is yet to be seen.
Either way, it’s great to see a classic series being brought back into the playing field. A day one buy, don’t you agree?
