EA is looking to silence the critics with FIFA 22 and its next-gen HyperMotion technology which will set it apart from the PS4/Xbox One versions.
EA has signalled the FIFA 22 hype train out of the station with the FIFA 22 reveal trailer today featuring some of the best-known players in the sport, including Kylian Mbappé, who famously fluffed his penalty to send France out of the Euros. Meanwhile, Southgate and lads will be bringing it home later this evening. It’s coming home.
The big news here is that FIFA 22 will have some next-gen only features thanks to the HyperMotion technology, something that will only be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Stadia. In EA’s words, this is what HyperMotion technology is:
“HyperMotion technology enabled the integration of the first-ever motion capture of 22 professional footballers playing at high intensity. Additionally, EA’s proprietary machine-learning algorithm learns from more than 8.7 million frames of advanced match capture, then writes new animations in real-time to create organic football movement across a variety of interactions on the pitch. Whether it’s a shot, pass or cross, HyperMotion transforms how players move on and off the ball.”
“FIFA 22 offers millions of fans around the world a chance to engage with the sport they love in an unprecedented way,” said Nick Wlodyka, GM, EA SPORTS FIFA. “Each player experiences FIFA in their own way but on-pitch gameplay is the unifying constant, so we’re excited to offer deep innovation there. HyperMotion elevates that even further on next-gen consoles and Stadia and completely changes the feel of the game”.
As expected, FIFA 22 will include the usual slew of modes, including Career Mode, Volta Football, Pro Clubs, and of course, FIFA Ultimate Team. You’ll be able to create your own club, too, and there should be a lot less screaming at the goalkeepers as EA states that the keeper system has undergone a complete overhaul
Pre-orders for FIFA 22 are open now and if you reserve your copy before August 11th, 2021, you’ll get a FUT Heroes player item from December 1st. The Ultimate Edition also gets you on the pitch four days earlier than everybody else.
FIFA 22 will release on October 1st, 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. Nintendo Switch players are getting FIFA 22 Legacy Edition. Poor sods.
EA will be revealing more FIFA 22 features throughout the summer as well as some new games this month with its Spotlight events, culminating in a big finale that is the EA Play Live event on July 22nd.
