In the minute to minute action of carving or burning your way through Warhammer: Chaosbane, it’s easy to forget you are part of a bigger story that starts before the game. It’s also easy to quickly get up to speed on what happened, before you showed up by watching the story trailer released today.
In something that could have been pulled from actual history (except for the supernatural monsters and dark gods stuff), mankind was in a time of self-caused strife. They were worn down by wars and conflict. Seeing this opportunity, Asavar Kul gathered a bunch of races from the Chaos Wastes to kill humanity. They overwhelmed the city of Praag in Kislev in a decisive victory.
The nobleman Magnus united mighty heroes and the armies of men to retake Kislev in a difficult battle. Outside the city walls, he fought Kul and won. However, the battle left it’s scars on the participants, and winning one fight doesn’t mean the threat is eliminated. You’ll see what happens next in the game. As someone who played the beta, I’m interested to see where it goes.
Fortunately, Warhammer: Chaosbane is releasing on June 4th, so I won’t have long to wonder. Check back soon to see what we think of the game in our upcoming review.
Big Ben Interactive Press Release
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
