Some of us are yet to get anywhere near the end of the first part. But today we can confirm that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 is officially in the development stage. That means, the gaming wizards at Square Enix are hard at work in making the next instalment as good as the first. Better, even, if their comments are to be believed. The only problem is we’ve been told to wait a “little while” yet.
That’s because they are nowhere near ready to announce a launch window, nor are they planning to show us anything tangible for some time. So, you’d better get stuck back into the first. Or maybe leave it to nearer the time so you don’t forget the story? Just me and my leaky brain then…

The co-director of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2, Naoki Hamaguchi, relayed this news by saying:
“Development on the next game has already begun and we’re hard at work. You’ll be waiting a little while, but please look forward to it.”
In the same discussion, the game’s lead Tetsuya Nomura demonstrated he fully understood how a quick turnaround would be best for what is a continuation of the story. But went on to explain that the level of quality that they aspire for cannot be rushed, either. And, so, it is about marrying the two demands as best as possible – like taking their time but flooring it at the same time.
He added the following:
“I fully understand the importance of releasing a continuation soon. We want to deliver as quick as possible.
“For the next game, we plan to release something with even greater quality and even more enjoyable than the first game, as quickly as possible.”
Now, it’s obvious that the game will release on the PlayStation 5. But from how little they’ve given away, narrowing the launch window down further from within the next few years has proven impossible. At least to me. Therefore, all I can say is keep your eyes on our news feed because as soon as we know, you’ll know. That is unless you find out first…
