Released originally in 1999, Final Fantasy VIII received critical acclaim and understandably received a remastered version with a plethora of enhancements. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered allows gamers to experience the classic with updated visuals and boosts such as Battle Assist, No Encounters and a 3X Speed Boost.
The digital version of the game was released last year, although for collectors the physical release didn’t manifest until today, with some stunning box art.
2020 has been a big year for the Square Enix franchise, with the Final Fantasy VII Remake releasing earlier this year, it would appear that Square Enix is looking to bolster their Christmas period sales with a physical release which would garner more attention in stores.
All the same, with a Metacritic score of 80/100 and acclaim for its cinematic style it could prove to be the perfect fodder for gamers lacking a PS5 this Christmas and looking for a good story to sink their teeth into.

Video games, movies, comics and pretty much anything else nerdy. I write about these, I’d like to think I’m pretty good at it too. Outside of writing I play and enjoy football, cricket, boxing and most sports, except for golf (golf’s boring)
