Since earlier this year – nay – last year, actually, we’ve heard rumours of Sony and Microsoft upgrading their consoles but it’s only recently that the rumours have started to gain some traction.
GameStop has now entered the fray with its COO, Tony Bartel, commenting on the prospect of an upgraded PS4, among other consoles. Speaking as part of the retailer’s investor relations day, Bartel alluded to knowing more than he could let on, too.
“Although we have not modelled extensive growth for new innovation in this presentation, we are very pleased to see the introduction of technology like virtual reality and rumoured new console launches, some of which seem imminent,” Bartel explained to investors.
While GameStop may be happy to see more consoles on the horizon as it means better numbers at the bottom of the balance sheet, we’re not so sure that gamers are too pleased that their consoles may be left lagging behind.
What do you reckon? Would you be up for a PS4K, or are you happy enough with your PS4? Would you prefer a solid upgrade to a brand new PS5? Let us know down in the comments section below.
