A new trailer for Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout shows off main character, Ryza, and her friends in brilliant technicolor. In the short trailer, you can see the cast in multiple locations as they talk, laugh, and perform some of their special attacks. It’s less than a minute, but you do see a lot of very quick shots from the game.
You also see just how pretty this game looks. There appears to be a new art style that’s less cartoony while retaining the vibrant colors seen in past titles. If you’ve played previous titles in the series, it looks as if this one may be a nice improvement.
The story in Gust’s newest game follows Ryza and her friends in a quiet, peaceful town that she finds boring. That changes as soon as the gang goes into a cave and finds something evil threatens their world. They will go on an adventure, create a secret hideout (otherwise that’s a clickbait title for sure), and go into other worlds to find materials to synthesize to save the world. They’ll probably make a few friends along the way.
We’ll find out when Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout launches on October 29.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
