Gran Turismo Sport did alright on PS4. The reviews weren’t overly kind and the players weren’t too happy with the lack of single player content, but it has managed to find a following nonetheless.
Personally, Gran Turismo Sport didn’t gel with me due to the lack of a single player campaign, but, going on what series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said in a recent interview with GTPlanet, I think it’s safe to say that the next game will be more in line with what players expect from a Gran Turismo game.
Yamauchi recent sat down for a chat with the lads at GTPlanet, where he revealed that the team at Polyphony Digital is already hard at work on the next Gran Turismo game, presumably for PS5. The creator hinted that the next game will be a little less Sport and a little more traditional, saying “I think the next title that we’re going to create will be a combination of the past, present and future – a complete form of Gran Turismo.”
When asked about what the PS5 could mean for the team’s next efforts, Yamauchi hinted towards future PSVR content in the next game.
“The first thing that’s going to be affected by more power is VR,” Yamauchi said. “I don’t think that there’s anything else that requires that much processing power. I really like VR; I’m one to believe in the possibilities of it, and it’s very suited for a driving game.”
Gran Turismo Sport features some PSVR support, but it’s nowhere near a complete experience. Here’s hoping Gran Turismo on PS5 can turn things around on all fronts.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
