Gran Turismo Sport is being repackaged into a two disc bundle. But don’t expect it to be playable offline. An internet connection is still required to access its content, and that doesn’t look like it is ever going to change. Don’t they know servers are short lived?
It does at least put most of the updates on to disc (it ships with version 1.39/May time), and includes a number of exclusive items. So that should help your bandwidth stay in trim. Until the next one drops, that is.
After all, the racing game has enjoyed quite a number of updates since its release. So much so that it has practically taken over the hard drives of wannabe drivers, and threatened the stability of their internet connections through its demanding patches. Obviously those updates have come full of goodies, like new tracks and cars for free, but that doesn’t change the fact that the regular patches took their time to Instagram install. And that’s if you managed to squeeze them in at all.
A bit like Project Cars 2’s skinny pitlane bug…
On that note, the game is called Gran Turismo Sport: Spec II, and is available on October 4th. It will sport a new cover, to help differentiate it from its lesser twins (original release and PlayStation Hits version), and will come brimming to the rear view mirror with a 2.5 million credit boost and ten tarmac ready rides.
The models are:
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3
- Chevrolet Corvette C7 Gr.3
- Lexus RC F GT3 (Emil Frey Racing)
- Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG GT3 (AMG-Team HTP-Motorsport)
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition Gr.3
- Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 N24 Schulze Motorsport
- Porsche 911 RSR (991)
- Renault Sport R.S.01 GT3
- Subaru WRX Gr.3
- Toyota FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo (Gr.3)
And don’t forget, Gran Turismo Sport has a very enjoyable VR mode that has transformed the way in which gamers race. This is a good excuse to give it a go, once and for all. Not that you need much excuse with the cars and tracks that are on offer as is.
Are you revving with excitement at the convenience? Or are you already in receipt of a not speeding ticket from your internet provider? Give your fingers a runaround in the comments box below.
