Groundhog Day, the cracking Bill Murray movie about a man who relives the same day over and over again is getting a sequel. However, you won’t have to go out to your local picture house to see the sequel, you’ll just need a PS4 and a PSVR headset. A touch more expensive than a cinema ticket, then.
The PSVR game is called Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son, and it follows Phil Connors’ son, Phil Connors Junior, as he relives the same day again and again in his hometown of Punxsutawney. Apparently he’s having a bit of a bad time and he’s stuck in a time loop until he learns the true value of friends and family. A bit like his Dad, then.
The game is being produced by MWM Immersive and developed by Tequila Works, who you’ll remember as the developer of the brilliant The Invisible Hours that I reviewed last year. The developer says that it has taken lessons learned into consideration with Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son, and that branching, intertwined narratives are to be expected in this upcoming release.
Sadly there’s no release date to accompany the announcement, but the developer says that it’s due out later this year. There’s a teaser trailer up top, so give that a watch. And then watch it again. And again. And again.

Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
