While a new Groundhog Day movie may never come to fruition, we can all take solace in the fact that we can at least live out our own Groundhog Day experience thanks to the powers of virtual reality and Tequila Works’ upcoming Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son for PSVR.
The game was originally announced earlier this year, though no release date was set for the VR adventure. Today we’ve got the release date: September 17th, 2019. Remember that day, because you might be living it over and over and over an – crap joke is over.
Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son follows Phil Connors Jr., the son of Bill Murray’s Phil Connors character from the original movie. In the game, Phil Jr. travels to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and ends up living the same day over and over, just like Daddy did almost 30 years ago. To break away from the time loop and to get back to a normal life, Phil Jr. will have to solve puzzles and interact with the world and its people. Well, you will, as you play as Phil Jr..
To get an idea as to how the game will in PSVR, check out the gameplay trailer that’s embedded up above.
