Orcs Must Die! 3 is finally on consoles after being a Stadia exclusive, and while the new release does have some new features, others are sadly missing.
Orcs Must Die! 3 is primarily a single-player game that offers a lengthy campaign, a side campaign, an endless mode, a new Scramble mode, and weekly challenges. But does it have multiplayer? What about split-screen? Can you play two-player on the same console?
Orcs Must Die! 3 Multiplayer Options
Orcs Must Die 3! features a co-op mode where you can play with a friend online. You can tackle the game’s modes together and use your combined tactical knowledge and firepower to tear up the leaderboards. But is there split-screen multiplayer?
No, sadly, there isn’t.
At the time of the game’s release, Orcs Must Die! 3 does not support split-screen or local multiplayer, which is a shame. In fact, it’s one of the very few complaints I had with the game in my review.
It’s a game that seems like it would be a great fit for local multiplayer, but on the other hand, I can see why Orcs Must Die! 3 does not have a split-screen mode.
The game is very demanding and it’s making the consoles work hard to render the hundreds and thousands of orcs that swarm the game’s levels. That’s taxing enough, but in split-screen, the game would have to do double the work. Still, never say never.
Robot Entertainment may yet update the game to allow Orcs Must Die 3! to play split-screen local multiplayer on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The new-gen consoles have a lot more power to draw from and so they could potentially handle the extra effort required.
