If you’ve not already got the game installed, you’re probably wondering how long it takes to get Rockstar’s western epic installed on Sony’s machines.
Before the game’s release today, rumours were going around that it takes between 90 minutes and two hours to get the game installed. Well, I’m sorry to say that the rumours are actually true, though there are some variables.
I’ve got the disc to hand and a PS4 Pro, but no regular PS4, and even on the Pro it takes a long arse time. Like a long, long time. As you’ll be aware by now, Red Dead Redemption 2 ships on 2 discs; a data disc, and a play disc. You’ll need to pop both of them into the console to fully install the game, with disc one preceding disc two, obviously. I didn’t set up a stop clock or anything, but a rough roundabout time frame is 90 minutes, give or take five on either side. It’s a lengthy process for sure and while it’s only 90 minutes, it feels like an eternity when you’re waiting to play a game you’ve been waiting eight years for.
So yes, it’s lengthy, but this is the world we live in now. Deal with it.
