How long until the clock explodes?
How long is I Expect You To Die 2? How long does it take to beat the game? These are valid questions and as I’ve sat through every mission and scratched myself a bald spot trying to work out its puzzles, I’m as good as anybody else to tell you about the game’s length.
How long is I Expect You To Die 2?
On my first playthrough, it took me approximately 4 hours to beat I Expect You To Die 2. Now that may not sound very long but four hours of solid puzzles is no mean feat and considering the price of the game, I’d say it’s a fair run time.
You may be done quicker or it may take you more time, depending on your ability to solve silly puzzles. I was at something of an advantage because I’ve already played and reviewed the first game, and in preparation for the sequel, I recently played the first game again. As noted in my I Expect You To Die 2 review, you’ll definitely be at an advantage if you’re already familiar with how Schell Games constructs its puzzles.
Once you’ve beaten I Expect You To Die 2, you’ll be able to run through it again in under 30 minutes, easily. And that’s a good thing because the game wants you to run through it as fast as you can once you’ve enjoyed the story the first time around.
Each of the six missions has collectables and speed run times to aim for. Some missions can be done in under 90 seconds! Personally, I’ve not yet managed to get any of the speed run times – you have to find the shortcuts and tricks to the traps if you want to shave off the precious seconds.
My quickest complete run through the game was 23 minutes, and that’s because I made a couple of silly mistakes, but I think it’s probably possible to get the game done in around 15 minutes. I’m looking forward to seeing what players can figure out when it comes to getting their times down in I Expect You To Die 2, and I’ll be taking some of their tricks and using them myself. Hey, I gave the world a complete I Expect You To Die 2 walkthrough guide, I can take something back, right?
