The current iteration of Sony’s PSVR headset will work with PS5, and you’ll be able to play the vast majority of your PSVR games on the new PS5 using your existing headset. But there is one little catch: you can’t use the new PS5 camera with the PSVR, and you need an adapter for PS4 camera to connect to PS5. It’s a bit of a fiddle and certainly not ideal, but it means you still get to play PSVR games on PS5 without having to keep your PS4 hooked up to the entertainment centre. The PS5 is a massive console, so you’re likely not going to have space for both anyway!
How to get PSVR adapter for PS5 (for free!)
- Go to the Sony support page here
- Confirm you are not a robot by clicking the box that says ‘I’m not a robot’
- Fill in the form asking for your PSVR serial number. You’ll find the serial number on the back of your breakout box.
- Enter the serial number
- Continue to follow the form and double-check that your name and address are spelt correctly.
If everything has worked correctly, you’ll have your order confirmed. It won’t cost you a penny. If you have a PS5 pre-ordered and you want to be able to use your PSVR as soon as possible on the PS5, you should get this done as soon as possible.
