August 7th. Write that date down. It’s the date that H1Z1: Battle Royale leaves open beta on PS4 and becomes a fully fledged product fit for general release and consumption by the masses. Oh, and it’s still free-to-play.
Daybreak Games’ Terrence Yee made the announcement just now over on the PlayStation Blog, and revealed that there will be a new vehicle added to the game on release, along with new weapons, a Season 1 Battle Pass, and other stuff you can spend real money on.
H1Z1: Battle Royale was originally released on PC but has seen its player base decimated by the likes of PUBG and the unstoppable behemoth that is Fortnite, though it seems to be doing well enough on PS4 – for now. Hopefully the player base sticks around for a while before jumping ship to the next craze.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
