Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom was seen by some as a little unchallenging, and hardly testing of players with past experience of the genre. It therefore makes sense that a harder difficulty is being added to the game in its latest update. Let’s just hope this doesn’t make it too hard. I can see the headlines now…Ni Dark no Souls.
Worryingly, Bandai Namco has perhaps even gone a little too far as, in addition to Hard mode, they’re also adding an Expert level to proceedings. Could this be a little bit of ‘be careful what you wish for?’
Obviously, the new Hard mode will see the challenge ramped up some but the Expert will see the damage handed out by your enemy increase drastically. Think samurai sword compared to a butter knife being wielded by a Ninja instead of your Nana.
To entice players to the new challenge, and perhaps lure them to an earlier demise, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom played on the harder or expert level will reward players with rarer loot drops and the temptation of an extra skill slot. But you’ll have to decide how much you value your dignity.
