According to Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, the embargo for The Last of Us II reviews will be “Friday, June 12th. 12:01 a.m. PT.” He made the announcement on Twitter today while sharing a screenshot of his PS4 and the logo showing the game was installed. It looks like Sony is giving reviewers plenty of time to play the game and gather their thoughts. We don’t have a review copy yet, and, unless an angel out there knows someone who knows someone, that’s probably not going to change. We’ll be watching those reviews roll in at the same time as you.
I have it.
I’m playing it.
I’m reviewing it.

If you want to see more of the game before that, there is a State of Play scheduled for 1:00 pm PT / 4:00 pm ET on May 27th that is dedicated to this big Sony exclusive. According to the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog’s VP, Neil Druckmann, will guide players through more than twenty minutes of info about the game. This includes eight minutes of “never-before-seen gameplay.” These focused presentations are a good way to go in-depth with an upcoming release, and I hope PlayStation continues this approach.
Until then, sit back with your tray tables in the upright position, because this summer will be bringing a lot of games to the PS4.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
