Hideo Kojima’s first PlayStation 4 exclusive, Death Stranding, won’t be releasing anytime soon according to the famed game developer. Speaking at this year’s Tokyo Games Show, Kojima stated that Death Stranding will released before 2019, and seeing as how the game hasn’t even entered development just yet, it’s a safe bet to say that Kojima has 2018 in his sights.
For the time being, there’s not really much in the way of fresh information about the game. All we have so far is that weird trailer with Norman Reedus, though Kojima has said that development is starting with a “well-known” third-party game engine. Remember when the Metal Gear Solid creator was flying all over the world visiting top-notch development studios? That was his mission: find an engine for Death Stranding.
The good news is that by using a third-party engine to power his new game, it shouldn’t take forever to release – ahem – Metal Gear Solid V. It’s still some time away, but we reckon we might get a glimpse of the game at E3 2017. We also reckon that the game won’t be out until 2020, but that’s just us…
