Fair play to IO Interactive for keeping the plates spinning for so long with HITMAN 2. We’ve had countless updates for the sandbox-murder-simulator and a lot of it has been free content, too. It can only go on for so long, mind you, and the team that has been working on HITMAN 2’s post-launch support is slowly being moved over to another project: The next HITMAN game.
Writing on the IOI official website, the developer has confirmed that the next HITMAN game is in development and that the team working on HITMAN 2 is slowly being moved over to the team working on what we would assume is HITMAN 3.
“After 13 months of full-time support and content for HITMAN 2 – at no additional cost (besides what we added through the Expansion Pass), we’re now at a place where we are looking increasingly to the future. In real terms, we’re moving more and more of the HITMAN 2 team to join the next Hitman game, which is well underway.”
If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say that perhaps HITMAN 3 will release on PS4 and PS5 late next year. Or at least that’s what I’m hoping, because who wouldn’t want more HITMAN sooner?
