Hitman 3 Latest Trailer is An In-Engine Showcase for Next-Gen Consoles

IO Interactive has released a brand new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Hitman 3, and it’s a beauty. In full 4K/60fps, the new trailer is a showcase for the game on next-gen consoles, including PS5.

The trailer is all in-engine and shows a fair approximation of what we’ll be seeing on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S when the game releases on January 20th, 2021. However, it’s worth pointing out that the game will not look and run so lovely on PS4 and Xbox One, though there may be enhancements for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. At this time, however, there are no details on the last-gen consoles and their step-between refreshers.

The press release from Square Enix states that on next-gen consoles, Hitman 3 will have support for 4K visuals, 60fps gameplay, HDR, and, of course, faster loading times. The presser also notes that Hitman 3 will bring refinements to interaction animations and AI. The engine powering Hitman 3, Glacier, has also been revamped with new technology to allow up to 300 NPCs in a single location at one time.

Hitman 3 will also be the first game in the series with PSVR support, which is an exciting prospect. We’ve reported on how the developers are working with the limitations of the PSVR technology, but it’ll be interesting to see how it plays for real. We’ll have to wait until January to find out.
