You could say the video games industry is a very leaky one because we’ve only gone and gotten ourselves another premature announcement. This time it comes from IGN Spain, who seem to have detailed the local multiplayer modes in Crash Bandicoot 4 before the publishers would have liked. But at least that means more information for us. After reading it, though, I have to say, it all sounds very exciting – possibly as much as the prospect of new warp zones themselves. If only it were safe to open our couches to friends…
The now deleted article started by saying that there are two competitive modes in total, whereby you play as one of four characters (Crash, Coco, Fake Crash, and Fake Coco) in a game of Crate Combo or Checkpoint Race. Time freezing crates can help you reach the end first in the latter, as long as you hit all the checkpoints along the way, whilst the former challenges you to go crate bashing mad – increasing your bounty with every hit, as long as you keep the meter filled.
Elsewhere, a cooperative mode is also available and is called, rather self explanatorily, ‘Pass n Play’. This sees up to four of you sharing one controller to beat each individual stage, passing the controller every time you perish. But we all know how infuriating Crash can be, so I doubt it will be long until someone hogs the controls. Just. One. More. Go.
Obviously, this is all to be officially confirmed. But IGN usually know what they’re talking about, so I’m assuming it’s a matter of when not if. We’ll let you know, either way.
