With the release of the top PSN downloads for January, we now know how everyone spent the gift cards they received for Christmas, and the number one game was not the scary winner that we expected. The survival and dinosaur taming game, Ark: Survivor’s Pack, was at the top of the list. The game includes the most recent expansion, and it launched on PS4 on December 6th. This may be one of those slow burning games that picks up speed over time, so we will have to be watching for it when February’s numbers are released. Rounding out the top five, we have Resident Evil 7, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Battlefield 1, and the unstoppable Grand Theft Auto V.
There were some interesting titles to make the top 20 on PS4. The Order: 1886 made it to the 8th spot, Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition hit 9th, and Knack took the last spot on the list. Without knowing the exact sales numbers for the games on the list, it is still easy to determine that some steep discounts made gamers more willing to give these titles a try.
The PS4 Add-ons are still sprinkled with Call of Duty DLC, and the top selling PSVR game was Job Simulator. To see the full list, including PS3 and PS Vita games, you can visit the PlayStation Blog.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
