July’s PlayStation Plus games have been announced today by Sony, and I can already sense it being a divisive month…
While June’s offerings brought a well-rounded table of treats in the form of Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection, and the universally loved Sonic Mania – seriously, who doesn’t enjoy old-school Sonic? – July’s picks are a little more niche in nature.
For footy fans looking to break away from their filthy FIFA Ultimate Team lootboxes, Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 has you covered. Though I can totally see it not being for everyone. Football just isn’t for everyone.
The next game is Horizon Chase Turbo, an arcade racer inspired by the colorful, sprite-laden racers that we all played to death on the SNES and SEGA. Again, it’s not going to be for everyone as it’s still a fairly niche game. I’ve heard good things about it, though, so if you’re a casual player looking to broaden your gaming horizon, no pun intended, then it may be worth a download.
The new games will become available on July 2nd. You’ve got until then to get June’s games stocked up in your download list, otherwise they’ll be gone forever and your PlayStation Plus subscription will be worth significantly less than it already is.
Yes, we’re still only getting two games per month. Yes, our Xbox brethren are being treated to double that amount every month. Yes, I’ve searched for the gamer equivalent of Childline to report this injustice/abuse, but it doesn’t exist. It’s a first-world problem, apparently, and even the police are reluctant to step in. Bastards.
