The latest presenter at The Game Awards 2020 is none other than Keanu Reeves, who may have been more suited to the show in 2077 but obviously didn’t fancy waiting that long for the gig – luckily for us. But at the rate Geoff Keighley is making these announcements, the whole thing might just find itself running a little over time. Because it’s not exactly short of games, either. In fact, I think tomorrow night’s show is going to be rather packed to the rafters!
It couldn’t have been planned better for Reeves as it is scheduled to take place on Cyberpunk 2077’s launch day. A game the A-lister has been heavily involved in. And will no doubt be subconsciously promoting tomorrow night. For let’s not forget that this time next year it too will be vying for the top prize, assuming it manages to impress despite the countless bugs and nuisances…
Saying that, from what I’ve read so far, a few reviews seem to be a little too forgiving on its final state – listing their negatives yet still concluding it’s a nine or ten out of ten game. So, on that basis, there’s no doubt in my mind that Cyberpunk 2077 will still make the shortlist for 2021. Whether it triumphs, though, is another thing altogether. All you need is one polished and impressive release over the next few months and suddenly you’ve got a tight race on your hands.
And here’s hoping we have just that!
Meanwhile, in the here and now, Reeves will be joined by a few other household names – Christopher Nolan and Brie Larson, to name but two. So make sure you tune in on December 10th for the famous faces and the games because the quality of both is high this year!
