Looks Like Valve’s Left 4 Dead 3 Might Just Be Real

Over the course of the last-generation, PlayStation 3 owners were denied the ability to shoot hundreds of zombies and scream at their friends with Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2.

The hugely popular zombie franchise never made its way to the PlayStation 3 – some say due to the complex architecture of the console – so it was only playable on PC and the rival Xbox 360.

It’s been a few years since Left 4 Dead 2 released, and impatient fans are constantly asking about a third installment in the franchise. Valve hasn’t given anything officially but it looks like one of its ranks may have let slip that the game exists by posting a screenshot online of his desktop with a file named ‘left4dead3’ which, to us at least, seems like… Left 4 Dead 3. Yeah, we definitely need to get into the detective business.

Why does this matter for PS4 gamers, then? Well, as noted before, the previous games never saw a release on the PS3 due to it being iffy to work with, but with the PS4 being much more akin to a traditional PC in terms of its working environment for developers, it’s very likely that Valve would release a hypothetical Left 4 Dead 3 on the console.

This isn’t the first time such a “leak” has happened, so don’t expect Valve to jump in with an official announcement soon.
