Today marks the release of Hangar 13’s Mafia remake, dubbed Mafia: Definitive Edition. As is the norm, then, the game has a brand new trailer to celebrate its launch – and it’s OG.
The trailer is a throwback to classic mob movies, even going as far as being mostly comprised of in-game cinematics. Are we being swindled with this trailer? Will I wake up to find a horses head in my bed for suggesting such a thing? I’m hoping the answer to both is a clear ‘no’.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is a from-the-ground-up remake of the original Mafia game that released almost 20 years ago. The game features new and improved graphics, animations, gameplay mechanics, and even an extended story; Hangar 13 didn’t just remake the game, they re-wrote it, too.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is an open-world crime thriller set in the golden era of American gangster life. You’ll find no N.W.A or Tupac here. Instead, you’ll cruise the streets of Lost Haven listening to classic swing and jazz tunes. Now that’s my vision of Gangsta’s Paradise.
