We at Pure PlayStation are bubbling over with excitement at the impending (October 7th) release date of the third installment in the Mafia franchise. Today, some of us got even more excited at the reveal of this A-List (if said list was compiled in 1968) music line-up:
In a press release earlier today, 2K (the publisher for Mafia III) revealed a truly astounding licensed soundtrack for their upcoming game. Featuring more than 100 songs, the soundtrack is set to feature such classic acts as The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Cream, CCR, Johnny Cash, Otis reading, James Brown, Ramones, Sam Cooke and many, (believe me) many, more.
Check out a few of our personal highlights below;
The Animals: “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place”
Bobby Fuller Four: “I Fought The Law”
Dusty Springfield: “Son of a Preacher Man”
Johnny Cash: “Folsom Prison Blues (Live),” “Ring of Fire”
Otis Redding: “Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay,” “Hard To Handle”
Sam Cooke: “Chain Gang,” “Wonderful World,” (+more)
The Rolling Stones: “Mother’s Little Helper,” “Paint It Black,” “Sympathy For The Devil,” “Street Fighting Man,”
The Troggs: “Wild Thing”
Phew, we think you’ll agree that this soundtrack really has something for everyone to drive their stolen automobiles to.
Let us know what your take on this line-up is in the comments below! Who’s excited for the collector’s edition Vinyl? Pure PlayStation’s Dom O’Leary is literally salivating at the thought…
We sometimes link to online retail stores. If you buy something from our links, we may make a small commission which goes towards keeping the lights on and coffee in the pot.
Dom is a gaming orphan; after his surrogate father SEGA was killed in the console wars, he was adopted by Sony and raised by various PlayStation consoles. He swears he’s not biased in any way though, so that’s good enough for us.
