Absolver is the latest MMO coming to the PS4, and IGN has a 15 minute exclusive video with new gameplay and details around learning and using moves and more of what we can expect to see in the final game.
As your character explores the world and encounters other fighters, punching and kicking is only the beginning. You will be able to pick a stance and use different moves depending on your style. Each style has different moves and a special move. You can even mix and match moves for a fluid signature fighting style, as you make progress toward achieving your Bruce Lee fantasy. (Bruce Lee did not weigh 300 pounds and sweat when he ate, but we can all live the fantasy, right?)
You can pick up weapons from enemies and other players and choose different types of gear. During the video, the creative director, Pierre Tarno, shows us the increased damage of weapons and how easy it can be for you or an enemy to be disarmed. To protect your fighter, there are nine categories of gear in the game, and every piece will be a trade between protection and weight.
You can also pick up new moves from enemies by absorbing an unknown attack. If you absorb it enough, you can learn it. Other players can choose to mentor you in the game and teach you new moves. With PVP, they can also just choose to show you those moves in the most painful way possible.
Absolver is scheduled to be released later this year.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
