Mass Effect Remaster Trilogy Releases May 14th; First Trailer Released

EA has officially announced that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will release on May 14th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and it will also be playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

The trilogy will be bundled into one package that contains every single-player game and its base content, as well as over 40 downloadable content packs, including story, weapons, armour, and more. It’s going to be an absolute unit of a game, that’s for sure.

On the technical side, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will have support for 4K as well as HDR, which will work in tandem with the enhanced visuals. Character models have been remastered and thousands of textures have been boosted to higher resolutions, which should make even the oldest of the bunch, Mass Effect, look quite good by today’s standards. What’s more is that even the pre-rendered cinematics have been given a touch-up, too, so that they stand the test of time. Well, for a few years, anyway…

“It’s been an incredible journey revisiting the stories, characters and iconic moments of the Mass Effect trilogy, enhancing the experience for modern platforms while staying true to the spirit of the original,” said Mac Walters, Project Director on the Mass Effect Legendary Edition and lead writer of the original trilogy at BioWare. “Remastering a game, let alone three, is a huge undertaking as there’s over 100 hours of gameplay included, but we wanted to do this for our fans as well as a new generation of gamers looking to jump into the iconic story of Shepard.”

Pre-orders for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition are open now ahead of the game’s May 14th release date. You can pre-order via Amazon here, or go via the official website and get directed to the storefront of your choice.
