Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk promises to be another opportunity to sink your time and teeth into a dungeon crawler. Even though the story on some of these games may be a little lighter than other RPGs, the characters are still a vital part. Would you want to descend into a dark maze with a stranger? (Don’t. It’s always a trap.)
A new trailer gives you the name and a fun fact about each person you will meet. There is the main character, Dronya, a Dusk Witch who calls herself the real Baba Yaga, and her squeaky-voiced apprentice, Luca. We have the typical stuffy politician and his butler. We even have the arrogant noble.
However, I want to draw your attention to the eye patch wearing Marietta. She is the “habitual flirt and potato aficiando”. I wonder if you have to go to school for that? Either way, it’s a good sign of quirky things to come in the final game.
Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk will follow Dronya to the town of Refrain. She wants to explore the labyrinth under the town with her puppet soldiers for fun and profit. Mostly profit. She is following the instructions from a rare book known as the Tractatus de Monstrum. It was written by the only person to ever return alive from the labyrinth.
Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk will release on the PS4 on September 18th. It will have a special edition with a set of four pins, the soundtrack, an art book, and a deck of tarrot cards.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
